Sacramento Valley Region
Sacramento Valley Region
This region may be viewed as the “drive-by” lands between the coast and Sierra, but those who live here know of the amazing landscapes like rivers lined with Valley Oak canopy, grasslands filled with endemic wildflowers, and rolling hills studded with Blue Oaks. Urban sprawl, solar farms, and mining projects are consuming these lands at a frightening pace. Our lands are critical for biodiversity and the future health of our communities, food systems, and natural and wild landscapes depend on the work that is happening now.
We have protected less than 9% of our lands for 30X30 goals, and we lack local funding sources to access many of the grants needed. Our region needs a proactive, long-range vision that considers smart growth; equitable distribution of resources, services, and opportunities; and strategic natural and productive land protection to flourish.
We’re creating a Greenprint for the region and working with these goals in focus:
- Keep open spaces open and working lands working
- Protect clean air and clean water.
- Provide green spaces in urban places.
- Make the outdoors accessible for all.
